citation is a reference to a source. More precisely, a citation is an abbreviated alphanumeric expression embedded in the body of an intellectual work that denotes an entry in the bibliographic references section of the work for the purpose of acknowlement. The Download Citation feature allows users to download all citing articles from a scholarly or patent search.

Location

Citations counts are indicated below the title and biblio information of a scholarly or patent result. In an individual scholarly work or patent you have a toolbar on the summary tab which includes the Download Citation button.

How to Use

In an individual scholarly work or patent you can click the “Download Citation” button in the toolbar. Clicking Download Citation will led to a pop-up window with the title ‘Download Citation’. Here you will be able to select from a range of options to download your citation results.

Options

Files may be exported in any of four formats- RIS, BibTeX, CSV and JSON. Use the drop-down menu to select the option suitable to your requirements.

  • RIS Format: RIS is a standardized tag format developed by Research Information Systems, Incorporated (the format name refers to the company) to enable citation programs to exchange data.
  • BibTeX Format: BibTeX is reference management software for formatting lists of references.
  • CSV Format: A comma-separated values (CSV) file is a delimited text file that uses a comma to separate values.
  • JSON Format: JavaScript Object Notation is an open standard file format, and data interchange format, that uses human-readable text to store and transmit data objects consisting of attribute–value pairs and array data types.

Export/Download

Once you have selected your file’s export format, you may give your file a name. The system automatically assigns a name to your file, which you may retain. Once the export format and the file name are filled in, click ‘Download’.
