The “Expand” Results feature enables users to extend the current biblio view of results and look at additional and expanded views of data available for that Scholarly or Patent result. Expand is a useful feature to explore more detail without leaving your results.
Location
Toolbar
On a search results page, either Scholarly Works or Patent results , the “Expand” feature is located in the main tool bar area. The inverse action of “Collapse” is located in the same place.
Individual Result
On a Scholarly Works or Patent search results page, an “Expand” feature is located next to each individual result listing. The inverse action of “Collapse” is located in the same place.
How to Use
Once you have located and clicked the “Expand” feature, you will notice the selected result or results will open with an expanded version of the data available. To “Collapse” or close the expanded version you simply need to click the same expand button once more.
Expanded Scholarly Data
In addition to the list biblio view, an expanded scholarly result will provide additional details including: Authors, Abstract, Institutions, Affiliations, Affiliated Institution Dossier, MeSH Terms, Substances, Subjects, Keywords, Funding Information, Conference, Fields of Study, Publication information, Sources, Open Access, Licensing and Links to other sources.
Expanded Patent Data
In addition to the list biblio view, an expanded patent result will provide additional details including: Abstract, Claims, Applicants, Owners, Inventors, Classifications, History, Document Preview and Document Download.
